European Spam Traffic Reaches 16 Billion Messages per Day, Says Radicati Group

European email traffic considered as "spam" will increase from its current level -- 16 billion messages per day in 2006 -- to 38 billion messages per day in 2010, according to a study by Radicati Group. With spam now accounting for 62 percent of all European email messages, the analysts predict robust growth for email security solutions that help European organizations protect their networks.

The analysts note that email networks of all sizes are exposed to an ever-increasing number of new security threats.

The study looks at three key segments: E-mail Security Software, E-mail Security Appliances, and Managed E-mail Security. According to the study, the revenue generated from all three segments combined will grow from €920 million in 2006, to €1,624 million in 2010.
